To Live A Creative Life....

Hi everyone! How's it going? I see that you've all been pouring your hearts into your amazing creations, such beautiful work out there.

I've been trying my hand at mixed media on wooden canvases & paper, these days. Here are som of my latest creations.

My DH helped me out by making me all of the blank, wooden canvases to work on. He did a great job, as always.

Enjoy!

You Are My Sunshine ~ Mini Book...

Hi there!
Just wanted to share a little project I just finished up. It's a mini book made from recycled return envelopes, you know the kind we toss out, that come with our mail almost everyday :):):)

As you can probably tell, I love recycling things we toss out as trash!!!

I painted the envy's with yellow acrylic paint, added spaces & tags to write or attach images to.  Hand bound the book pages with embroidery floss.  Oh and I designed and cut the "You are my sunshine... My only sunshine" with my Silhouette Cameo.

Well that's all for now...  It's pretty straight forward, hope you like it.

Quick Little Birthday Balloon Cards....

Here's my version of some sweet little cards I made, after seeing this great video at JenniferMcGuireink.com.  Thanks Jennifer :):):)

My balloon body's are part Nestabilities circles & part hand cut. The ends of the balloons are also hand cut, with some bakers twine tied to them.  Then I just added some hand-stamped, embossed tags. It took less than 20 mins to make all four cards. Quick and easy!

Black Tie Sign Couple!

Hi, Happy Sunday!  I hope you all enjoyed your weekend.  I've graduated from reorganizing my craft space/supplies, to reorganizing the entire house, garage and potting shed.  My husband's reluctantly on board, but I'm sure he wishes I still had my day job :):):) I've ordered a small dumpster so we could purge, all the years of unnecessary collecting.  We've already made 2 donation trips to our local goodwill and I'm sure there will be more!

OK, so here's a simple little card idea I had before falling asleep one night and since I actually remembered it in the morning, I decided to bring it to life!
The couple, their black bow ties and heart are all covered in super fine glitter. Sure wish I would've captured that a bit better, it really makes it look adorable. Everything was cut via CCR, with my Cricut Expression. The entire couple is popped up for a 3D effect.

Hope you like it!

Christmas in July ~ Recycled Style!!!

Hello and Happy Monday!!

How was your weekend? I see everyone has been very busy making fabulous things!!!

Last week, for me, was all about reorganizing, sorting and, as hard as it is, purging through all my craft supplies. I'm hoping to have it all wrapped up today, but it is 8 years of  stuff.  It's quite interesting to see how my taste has changed, since I began crafting back in 2006.  My DH was very helpful, he ran out and bought clear plastic bins, made labels for the bins, drawers, folders and moved the heavy stuff for me.  I'm looking forward to having this project completed, it feels so good to get things reorganized and to get rid of excess.

Here are a couple of July Christmas cards.  I was inspired by seeing everyone else's fun July Christmas cards. They're made of all scraps and recycled Christmas cards.  You can't see it in the picture, but the poinsettias, are behind a clear, acetate window.  Recycle and reuse :):):)

Hope you like them.

I've submitted them in the Craftin Desert Divas for our Christmas in JulyChallenge

Thank you for letting me know Lisa :):):)

Mini Gift Bag... (Recycled T.P. Roll!)

Hi Everyone!  Hope you had a nice long weekend :)

Since I've been itching to make some things from empty tp rolls and I had picked up a little something for my mom (shhh!!! It's a surprise) I decided to make her a fun little package.  This is my version of this sweet little package made by Becky Shander at Art & Illumination. Thank you, Becky!

First... I cut the bottom of the tp roll with a victorian cut, sewed that end shut, inked the edge of the top & bottom. Hot glued some scrap burlap all the way around the middle. Added 4 paper flowers secured with a polka-dot brad to the front center of the burlap. Punched eyelet sized holes at the top, sides of the open end and set eyelets to hold the wire handle. Added some washi tape above and below the burlap strip for some added fun.

Hope you like it!

I "Mustache" You To Be....

MY VALENTINE!!!

Late as always.  Would you believe that in real life, I'm one of the most punctual people ever.  I'm actually kind of anal about being on time, but when it come to keeping up my blog, I am never on time. That's what happens when one just has too much on their plate.
Well, I'm happy to announce that, I'll be retired in a couple weeks.... So I'll be able to free my artistic soul and have more time to blog about it :):):)

OK! On with my tardy share...
Here's what I used for this creation:  Splitcoaststampers Pop-up Box Card Tutorial, my Silhouette Cameo, the Silhouette I Mustache You To Be My Valentine (shape set) and the Silhouette Nested Hearts (shape set).  Oh, I almost forgot an embossing folder, glitter, swirly rubber stamps and thin strips of recycled, clear acetate.
It was loads of fun to make and I'm so happy with the way it turned out.

Hope you like it and find some inspiration from it as well :):):)

My 1st Magazine Publication... Awesome Reusable Tags!

Hi Everyone!

Yes it's true, I've been published in Cricut Magazine® Cards Idea Book Dec 2013 and I'm so excited to finally be able to share the news with my crafty friends.

It's a project I'd posted previously, some of you may remember.  I was asked to pull it from all websites for a certain amount of time and now I am able to share it again :):):)

Here's another 1st.... A video about my tags.

Awesome Reusable Tags:
Tags and flowers were created in CCR and cut using my Cricut Expression with Art Philosophy cartridge.
Inks, stickles & rock candy crackle paints by Tim Holtz. Tattered Angles (for shimmer)
Vintage seam binding ribbon.
Sewing, ball chain, eyelet, background rubber stamp.
For the reusable pocket, I cut up an Avery brand, protector sheet and sewed it on.

You can also add rhinestones or brads in the center of your flowers, instead of stickles, for a different look.

Wishing you a super fun & artistic day!

Crepe Paper & Old Book Page Flowers...

So I ran across some great colors of crepe paper (party steamers) and an old dictionary at the thrift store.  I just could resist buying them to see what I could create.  Here's the 1st project :)

Hope everyone's having a great week!

Wedding Guest-Box Tags....

Hi!!!!

Thought I'd drop by & share some sweet little tags I created for a co-worker.  Her daughter is getting married next month and instead of a guestbook, she is going to have e a lovely little guest-box.  So they requested some customized tags to use on their adorable little box.  Her wedding is vintage & very soft colors, so here's what I made them.  Hope you like.  BTW... They were a success, they loved them :)

The papers are metallic & so beautiful in person... I tried but it's hard to capture how pretty they are.

Happy Thursday everyone!!!
